So in the next two weeks I'll be at the Writer's Digest Annual Conference in New York City, hanging out with the likes of Harlan Coben and Hugh Howey ... or, at least, seeing them from a distance. The dates are August 1 - 3, at the Roosevelt Hotel. I'm on two panels — Expanding Your Brand with Co-Writers, with my Refuge co-authors Jeremy Robinson and Kane Gilmour, as well as Sean Ellis, and Getting Real about Self-Publishing, with Jeremy and Kane, as well as Judith Gille and Ember Reichgott Junge. You can see the rest of the schedule here. AND, if you haven't signed up yet, you can use this (case sensitive!) discount code for $50.00 off the Basic Conference or Pitch Slam/Basic Conference Package: WDSPEAKER. Hope to see some of you there!
Two New Bundles
I've just released two ebook bundles. The regular price for both ebooks is $6.99, but for a limited time you can grab each bundle for just 99 cents on Kindle and Nook.
- Two Complete Novels: The Calling & The Dishonored Dead (Kindle and Nook)
- Two Complete Novels: Legion & Man of Wax (Kindle and Nook)
Already have the books?
Gift them to a friend!
Seriously, I think I may have lost my mind. That's four novels for just $2.00. But act fast — the price goes up to $6.99 after this weekend.
The bundles will be available on Kobo, iTunes, and Google Play very shortly. If you use those retailers and don't want to miss out on this amazing deal, you can purchase the bundles directly via Ganxy (here and here).
Eleanor and Neverland
Two new books have just been released into the wild that you should definitely check out.
Jason Gurley is a relatively new name that has been making a big splash everywhere. He's one of the best graphic designers in the business (I mean, hey, look at that beautiful cover!), and he's already making a big name for himself in the world of science fiction. In fact, Hugh Howey says Jason will be a household name someday. Believe it. His latest novel has just come out, what many are comparing to Neil Gaiman's The Ocean at the End of the Lane. It's called Eleanor and it's available now exclusively at Amazon.
Douglas Clegg is a great writer and good friend, and while it's not new per se, his novel Neverland has just be reissued with a snazzy-looking cover. You want quality horror fiction? Doug writes some of the best horror fiction out there, so grab Neverland at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo while the grabbing's good.
Seashore
The very awesome and talented Dustin Grella animated the winning story of this year's Hint Fiction Contest. In case you missed it, here's the story:
AT THE SEASHORE by Monica Wang
After the accident that summer, he stopped listening to seashells. The ocean was bad enough—what it told him to do was worse.
Now here's the animation.

Podcast: Ben Loory And His Many, Many Stories
Ben Loory is one of my favorite people, and I'm not just saying that because one time he picked me up from the airport. His short stories are so unique and exciting I could read them all the time. His collection Stories for Nighttime and Some for the Day was released in 2011 from Penguin (the paperback is currently a steal at $6.00!), and his kid's book The Baseball Player and the Walrus will be out next year from Dial. I've been wanting to do a podcast with Ben for a long time now, and I was thrilled talk to him about his collection, his upcoming kid's book, and a whole lot more. Enjoy!
