"I'm Sure It's Only A Glitch"

My wife and I watched RoboCop tonight. She had never seen it before; I had seen it so long ago I didn't remember much about it at all, which is saying a lot because I have a pretty good memory when it comes to books and movies. So it was like watching it for the first time. A movie made in 1987 (I was six years old). Special effects weren't what they are now, of course, but I'm sure then they were pretty good. And something about movies made in the 80's -- they were really bloody and violent, weren't they? Very over the top. I mean, there was one part near the end when one of the bad guys gets soaked in toxic waste (how do you know it's toxic waste? because a large sign says so) and he starts mutating on the spot.

And then you have Kurtwood Smith (aka Red Forman from That 70's Show) playing one of the main bad guys.

And the only female lead in the movie is played by Nancy Allen, who, I guess, was considered the babe back then.

But none of that is what makes RoboCop a classic. That's all thanks to ED-209 and this very violent (yet oddly humorous) clip below. Blog viewer discretion is advised.
